Orme Street Sewer, Phase II

Project Description:

The Orme Street Sewer project included construction management  for the City of Atlanta. The infrastructure scope of work included the construction of 800 LF of cast-in-place 10′x11′ concrete box culvert installed by open cut excavation; construction of 2,000 LF of 12′ dia. (horeshoe shape) reinforced concrete combined sewer tunnel; construction of 275 linear feet of 6′ diameter reinforced concrete combined sewer tunnel; construction of 275 linear feet of 6′ diameter reinforced concrete combined tunnel; installation of major reinforced concrete junction boxes; installation of new curb & gutter, sidewalks, asphalt roadways, concrete roadways, landscaping, and site improvements. The project also included the coordination with all of the utility companies to ensure their planning, design, and c0nstruction was within the overall schedule.

  A majority of the work was performed on the campus of Georgia Institute of Technology (GT). This required close management, coordination, and reporting with GT on a daily basis. Street closures and detours were planned and closely coordinated with GT, the City of Atlanta, and GDOT. This pre-planning and coordination avoided major impact to the students, faculty, and vehicular traffic. Project also included the major redevelopment of Brittain Drive consisting of new curb and gutters, sidewalks, landscaping, and streetscaping for GT.
