IBG’s own receives NAWIC Atlanta Chapter Member of the Year Award

Atlanta, Georgia- June 21, 2012-IBG is proud to announce that our own, Linda McCoy, received the 2012, National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Atlanta Chapter member of the year award. She has been a member of this organization since 2002. Linda volunteers her time and is committed to this organization wholeheartedly.

President of the Atlanta Chapter, Lynn Logan stated, “Linda does so much for NAWIC and this year the newsletter is just one of the contributions she has made to our chapter.  Linda has served on the board and over the years has served on about every committee.  “

Linda stated, “Over the past ten years, I have really enjoyed learning about the industry. Being involved in numerous committees such as the board of directors, ACE mentorship, public relations with Block Kids and NAWIC Education Foundation (NFE) has truly enriched my life. I truly enjoy designing and working on the chapter’s monthly newsletter.  I am a firm believer in participation. How does one expect to enjoy life other than going to their daily occupation?  You must breakout of the four walls and see what new horizons are there to achieve ones next goal in life.”

NAWIC originally began as women in construction of Fort Worth, Texas. It was founded in 1953 by 16 women working in the construction industry. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry; the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. (http://www.nawicatlanta.org/)
